What Makes Rootd a Great Residential

Set within acres of Hertfordshire woodland, just an hour from Central London, Rootd Adventure delivers immersive outdoor residential trips for primary and secondary schools.
These residentials give children the opportunity to step away from everyday distractions, take on new challenges, learn new skills, and create lasting memories together.
With accommodation options suitable for all seasons, schools can visit year-round. Full catering is provided, and the centre can accommodate groups of up to 120.
Rootd Adventure is committed to making outdoor experiences accessible to as many children as possible, offering great value across a range of options, from one-night nature stays to three-night adventure programmes.

A Purpose-Built Centre

The camp is located within the Phasels Wood Activity Centre in Hertfordshire, a well-equipped venue offering high-quality adventure activities and well-maintained facilities.
The site is not open to the public, ensuring that during each stay only centre staff, the Rootd team, and visiting schools are present. This creates a safe and focused environment for groups.

A Different Kind of Residential Experience

Rootd Adventure offers an alternative to larger, more impersonal trip providers. Many schools choose Rootd after experiences that felt rushed or overcrowded elsewhere.
At Rootd, the approach is more personal and immersive. The unique pod and bell tent accommodation provides an outdoor experience that feels adventurous while remaining safe and comfortable.
Highly trained and experienced instructors take the time to get to know every child, helping them feel included, supported, and encouraged to step outside their comfort zone.
From nature-based experiences to team challenges and adrenaline-fuelled activities, carefully designed, age-appropriate programmes ensure there is something for every student, giving each child the chance to thrive.
The aim is for every child to leave a Rootd residential feeling inspired, more confident, and full of unforgettable memories.

Based in Hertfordshire woodland, within one hour of Central London and just five minutes from the M25, the centre's location gives you quick access to a beautiful woodland setting without the stress of a long coach journey.
The accessible locations can bring many benefits for schools:
A shorter, stress-free journey
Lower coach costs
More time for activities
Reduced CO2 emissions
