Located in the Brecon Beacons National Park, 3 day course prices are from £177pp +VAT, including assessment and portfolio of evidence.

Bring PE at GCSE and BTEC level to life with these action packed activity courses at our Brecon Beacons Adventure Camp, based on the doorstep of the largest lake in South Wales. As part of the ‘Outdoor and Adventurous Activities’ syllabus we offer Climbing, Canoeing, Kayaking and Mountain Activities. We will work with you to ensure your programme suits your syllabus and Exam Board for either GCSE PE, BTEC Sport or BTEC Public Services, Levels 1-3. During the course, our instructional staff will work with you and the students to build a Learning Log for each activity covered in order to provide evidence for each student’s coursework.

GCSE PE

The aim of our ‘GCSE PE: Outdoor Education’ course is to cover section 2 of the coursework syllabus and give students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to:

  • Assess possible hazards inherent to activities: environmental factors;
  • Control risks
  • Acquire and develop skills under applied conditions
  • Perform effectively in the full recognised event / version of the game by selecting and applying skills, tactics, compositional ideas
  • Understand, observe, and apply rules, conventions, scoring systems, and safety aspects of participation and competition
  • Analyse and take action to improve own and others’ performance
  • Adopt a chosen role in the activity
  • The GCSE program also includes BCU Paddle Power Passport Level 3 to 4

BTEC Sport & Public Service Levels 1-3

The aims of our BTEC Sport or Public Services courses can be designed to suit your particular needs and to meet the desired areas your syllabus. Also, depending on the group’s age range, the BTEC course can cover BCU Paddle Power Passport level 3 to 4 or BCU 2 Star.

All adventure courses have a maximum of 20 people per activity at any one time and are sufficiently flexible to meet your examination board’s particular requirements (Edexcel, AQA, OCR and WJEC). Typically, will cover the following topics, although this may vary according to your particular requirements

Safety; risk assessments; survival and emergency procedures; self confidence, problem-solving skills; journey/ activity planning; orientation/ navigation skills; analysis of problem/ task/ challenge; selection of equipment/ skills/ route/ course.

Ultra convenient location famous for its lakes, dramatic mountains, open countryside and rural villages, the Brecon Beacons has so much to offer outdoor adventure activity enthusiasts. Set in a pretty village in the Brecon Beacons National Park, with views of Pen y Fan, the tallest mountain in South Wales,our exclusive and private camp is ideally located to make the mostof the water and mountain views – a perfect location to take your group for their adventure in Wales.

Choice of camping or glamping

Here you can choose from our traditional Acorn Camping Villages with standing-height tents, solid floors and real beds, or our new camping pods. GCSE PE and BTEC groups tend favour our new heated camping pods. They are located next to Llangorse Lake, amidst the mountains offering beautiful views and provide easy access to the water sports activities. Party Leader pods sleep up to two people and have proper beds, a toilet, basin, kitchenette, TV and electricity. There is a private and separate Party Leader shower block close by. Group pods sleep up to five per pod and have electricity and heating. They are just a short walk from the purpose-built toilet and shower block, central to the pod village. This camp benefits from an indoor canteen, drying room and a games / function room.
