Acorn’s founder and owner, Andrew Gardiner, has been personally overseeing school visits to India for nearly ten years and we now offer schools and groups a 10 day adventurous programme in India; one that perfectly combines culture with adventure and offers young people the best all round experience of this vibrant and magical country. Our Himalayan Adventure programme will include time to explore Delhi’s markets and historical places of interest, a day trip to the Taj Mahal, trekking and rafting in Rishikesh, a holy city on the banks of the river ganges, as well as temple visits, time at a local village school, Indian cookery and so much more! This is an incredible journey; one that will inspire and enrich your pupils lives.Each school trip is carefully organised by our specialist Head Office and `in country` team and we will support you fully by visiting you at your school, supporting with your presentation to parents and completing any paperwork. In India you will have a Senior Guide Leader with you, leading the trip, 24 hour medical `in country` support as well as 24 hour `on call` assistance from our Head Office team. India is the perfect destination for a school trip, with so much to teach us, but especially young people. With safety and location in mind we tent to use accommodation in youth hostels within the embassy area of Delhi. Students are usually in dormitories, and adults in twin bedded rooms. Rooms and dormitories are basic, with or without en-suite facilities.Shivpuri
Students will be in two, three or four berth tents on mattresses (usually beds for adults) with sleeping bags OR sheets, blanket/duvet and pillows. There are plumbed WCs and water for washing. There are shower facilities and a limited amount of hot and cold water. The standard of hygiene is good. Showers are also available/ There are WCs, and thunder boxes and plumbed spring for washing. Here you will have a bunk (two or three tiered) in an air conditioned or non air conditioned carriage. We try to book the entire group together but this is sometimes not possible but all students will have a responsible adult nearby. For your comfort you should carry a cotton sheet sleeping bag or single duvet cover. All of our visits and activities have been tried and tested by our experienced Head Office and `in country` teams and our sister company has been sending schools on a similar visit for nearly ten years.Senior Leader
We provide a Senior Guide Leader to escort you throughout your stay and all activities are delivered by appropriately qualified staff that conform to our stringent standards of safety.
