Today we got some wonderful letters through the post. Letters written by a group of primary school children who have recently returned from a trip to our Brecon Beacons Adventure in Wales.
It's so wonderful to hear about our trips directly from the children that we thought we would share a few of their words with you (just a small selection of comments- there were so many, it was hard to choose).
It reminds us all why we do what we do and why our trips are so important.
“I recommend you as a confidence boost scheme. You taught me to be brave”
“My favourite song was the toast song. I would like to thank Tom, Abby, Connor and Oscar for making our time funny and awesome.”
“I thoroughly enjoyed rounders, especially when the staff joined in, and the songs you taught us were brilliant!”
We are delighted to announce that our new Woodland Adventure in the Wyre Forest is now officially open and our first groups have had a great time!
Our Woodland Adventure is in the Wyre Forest, next door to the West Midlands Safari Park, and offers groups of 35 paying or more exclusive use of the whole Tipi Camp. Here, your school will enjoy a range of woodland activities from bushcraft to climbing, target sports to nightline. You will also get to experience a visit to one of the UK's best attractions- the West Midlands Safari Park.
What's new for 2018?
Acorn opens its first Woodland Adventure Camp in the UK this summer!
Come and see for yourselves at one of our Open Days this April. You'll have a guided tour, see our brand new tipis (which we are very excited about!) and hear all about the activity programme.
Our Woodland Adventure Camp is located in Bewdley, next door to the West Midlands Safari Park. Find out more here.
OPEN DAYS 2017
Our Woodland Adventure programmes are 2 nights or 4 nights and include a range of activities from bushcraft skills to target sports, climbing and forest orienteering. Also included is a visit to the West Midlands Safari Park. The real adventure is sleeping in the woods in a real life Tipi and cooking on the campfire! Every child should experience camping in the woods!
We recently enjoyed a trip down memory lane at our 35th anniversary Gala where we shared stories and sang the Acorn Hakka, one of our favourite songs from over the years. There were lots of faces there, past and present with some great stories to share about their times with Acorn. We seem to have touched so many lives in our 35 years and many of our former staff and pupils have gone on to do some fantastic things (having been inspired by their experiences at Acorn, we are told). We've also discovered there are lots of Acorn marriages and babies out there!
Andrew Gardiner, Acorn's founder and Chair, is so proud of Acorn's staff and Party Leaders who have contributed so much to Acorn's success and he would like to thank everyone that has worked hard to make Acorn what it is today.
Choosing a school trip provider for your school residential can be daunting, especially if you have never organised a school trip before. Over the last thirty years, lots has been done to make this easier for teachers and Acorn has been at the forefront of driving up standards and communication in the industry so that schools can make the best choices for their pupils.
